Customer terms
1. Who we are
MyLocalMechanic BC ("we", "us") runs mylocalmechanic.ca, a platform that connects customers with independent mechanics in British Columbia. [Operating entity, registered address and – if applicable – extra-provincial registration in BC – TO COMPLETE. Operator: MyLocalMechanic BC, 1 188th Street, Pitt Meadows, BC, Canada.]
2. Our role
The mechanic carries out the work and is responsible for it. We provide the booking platform, take payment on the mechanic's behalf, and help resolve problems. [Confirm whether we act as agent for the mechanic for payment collection – TO CONFIRM.]
3. Quotes and prices
Your quote is a fixed price in Canadian dollars for the work described, based on the details you give us. If your vehicle's details are wrong or the mechanic finds the job is different, they'll explain and give you a new written price before doing anything else. Under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act, a supplier can't charge materially more than an estimate without your consent.
4. Taxes
[How GST/PST apply and are shown on receipts – TO CONFIRM with an accountant before payments go live.]
5. Payment
Online card payments are not enabled yet. Agree payment arrangements directly with your mechanic before work begins. Any future online payment terms must be confirmed before card payments are enabled.
6. Cancellations
See our cancellation policy.
7. Guarantee
See our guarantee. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (BC), the Sale of Goods Act (BC) or other consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.
8. Liability
[TO COMPLETE with legal advice.]
9. Complaints and law
See our complaints process. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. You may also contact Consumer Protection BC. [Confirm dispute-resolution forum, e.g. BC Civil Resolution Tribunal for small claims – TO CONFIRM.]
10. Language
These terms are in English. [Add a French version before offering the service in Quebec.]
