About this job

A clutch is a wear item and usually lasts between 100,000 and 160,000 km depending on how the vehicle is driven. Replacing it means removing the transmission, so it's a big job, but many mobile mechanics can do it in a driveway. For some vehicles a shop is needed and we'll tell you before you book.

Price is for a standard clutch kit. Vehicles with a dual-mass flywheel may need that replacing too; your mechanic will check and quote first.

Questions about clutch replacement

How long does clutch replacement take?

Usually most of a day. Your mechanic will tell you if your vehicle needs longer.

Can it be done at my home?

No – this job needs a lift or workshop equipment, so it's done at a local garage. Choose "I'll bring it in", pick a garage near you and drop the car off in a morning or afternoon window.

Is the price fixed?

Yes. The price on your quote is what you pay. If the mechanic finds something else, they'll explain it and give you a separate price – nothing extra is done without your OK.

Is the work guaranteed?

Confirm your mechanic's parts and labour warranty before booking. See our warranty and repair concerns page for more information.
