About this job
If your seasonal tires aren't on their own rims, they need to be dismounted, mounted and balanced each season. This service is offered by mechanics with a mobile tire machine and balancer. You supply the tires; new valve stems are included.
Tip: a second set of rims usually pays for itself within a few seasons because changeovers become much cheaper.
Signs you might need it
- New tires to fit
- Seasonal swap but no second set of rims
- Vibration at highway speed after a tire change
What's included
- Dismount and mount four tires
- Computer wheel balance
- New valve stems
- Torque to spec and set pressures
Plus travel (mobile), disposal of old parts. Confirm the mechanic's warranty before booking.

Questions about tire mount and balance (set of 4)
How long does tire mount and balance (set of 4) take?
Usually about 1.5 hours. Your mechanic will tell you if your vehicle needs longer.
Can it be done at my home?
In most cases, yes. Mobile mechanics need a safe, level place where they're allowed to work, such as a driveway, carport or quiet street (check your strata rules). If your job needs a shop we'll let you know before you pay anything.
Is the price fixed?
Yes. The price on your quote is what you pay. If the mechanic finds something else, they'll explain it and give you a separate price – nothing extra is done without your OK.
Is the work guaranteed?
Confirm your mechanic's parts and labour warranty before booking. See our warranty and repair concerns page for more information.
