We're the middleman. Nothing more.
Our aim is simply to be the intermediary between drivers and local mechanics: connect people who need work doing with good mechanics nearby, then get out of the way. We find the customer, fix the price, take the payment and handle the admin. You do the work and keep the money.
That's why we charge a flat $5 instead of a slice of every invoice. The bigger the job, the more you keep, so choosing us means more of your income stays with you.

Customers get an instant fixed price in CAD across our 37 most-booked jobs: maintenance and oil changes, inspections, brakes, winter tire changeovers, batteries, timing belts, diagnostics and more. Prices are built from standard labour times at $130/h plus parts, and checked against published BC mobile and shop prices. Customers pay no call-out or service-call fee on top.
The difference is what happens after the job: instead of giving more than 10% of the invoice away in commission, you pay $5 and the card fee. More money back in your pocket on every job.
Questions from mechanics
What exactly do I pay?
A flat $5 per completed booking, plus Stripe's card handling fee on what the customer paid (we use 2.9% + 30¢ as the estimate; Stripe sets the actual rate, and some cards cost more). Both come off the payment automatically before it's sent to you. Nothing else: no sign-up fee, no monthly fee, no commission and no fee for cancelled jobs.
Does joining the list mean I'm approved?
No. The list gets you launch news for your area. To take jobs you still apply and we check your qualifications and insurance, usually within 2 business days. Use the same email address so we can match you up.
Who sets the prices customers pay?
We do, so you never have to quote or bid. Every job has a fixed price worked out from labour time, parts and car size, benchmarked against published BC mobile and shop prices. You choose which jobs to accept, and whether you work mobile, at your shop, or both.
How do I get paid?
The customer's card is held at booking and charged when they approve the finished job. We send your money to your Canadian bank account through Stripe, in CAD, minus the $5 fee and the card fee.
Is there a contract or minimum number of jobs?
No contract and no minimums. Take as many or as few jobs as you like, pause any time, and leave whenever you want.
What do you do with my details?
We use them only to email you about MyLocalMechanic BC for mechanics. We don't sell or share them. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time. See our privacy policy.
* Where the competitor figures come from
Figures are our estimates from each platform's published or reported rates, checked in November 2026. Platforms can change their fees and some rates vary by job, so check with them before comparing.
- Khench (a Canadian services marketplace, Ontario/GTA-first, that includes auto repair) publishes its provider plans at khench.com/compare: Standard 12%, Preferred 10% and Enterprise 8% commission per completed job. We've shown the Standard (12%) and Preferred (10%) rates before tax; plan fees, eligibility and any payment-processing costs are set by Khench and may change.
- Mobile mechanic companies such as instaMek publish customer package prices with a service-call fee and shop-supplies charge on top (instaMek's maintenance page adds a $29 service-call fee plus $12.50 shop supplies; its FAQ says the service fee is $10–$30 depending on area – instamek.com, checked Nov 2026). They don't publish what their mechanics are paid, so they're not in the table.
